PHOTOGRAPHY - CONVENT TO MUSEUM
Looking through the convent gate
Convent to Museum
1998
In August 1998 I photographed the abandoned Benedictine Convent in St Parthem, Lot Region, SW France.
The Convent was renovated and in July 2000 reopened as the Museum Of the River
The photographs that I made have been printed onto translucent silk and used as the first room of the new Museum, in remembrance of the buildings past
The Museum of the River tells the stories of the communities who lived by and traded on this major river, which is navigable from the sea at Bordeaux to above St Parthem – which is over 200 miles inland
